Organization Benicia State Parks Association
Organization Description The Benicia State Parks Association (BSPA), in partnership with the California State Department of Parks and Recreation and other entities is dedicated to keeping the Benicia State Parks open, accessible, safe and committed to expanding the knowledge and appreciation of the natural environment and cultural heritage of our parks. The BSPA provides resources to maintain regular park visiting hours and to support volunteers to enrich the visitor experience through education, interpretation, preservation and conservation activities at the Benicia Capitol State Historic Park and the Benicia State Recreation Area.

Project Title Gardening and Planting Project
Project Description Volunteers will assist with removing invasive exotic plants, tree/shrub pruning, hauling tree prunings to green bin, and planting native trees/shrubs. If you'd like to register a group and did not want to fill out individual volunteer forms for everyone, please contact us at communityservice@ucdavis.edu and we will assist you with registration!

* Note All volunteers should meet at Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden in the Benicia State Recreation Area. Directions to Benicia State Parks Association: From Interstate 780 West, Exit 3A (Columbus Parkway), turn left onto State Park Rd., turn right into the Park. From Interstate 780 East, Exit 3A (Columbus Parkway), turn left in to the Park. The Forrest Deaner Native Plant Botanic Garden is just 1/2 mile from the Park Entrance, immediately west of the Picnic area. Parking is available in front of the Garden. Volunteers should wear long sleeves, hats/caps, sunglasses, and garden gloves (if they own any).
